Monthly Favourites - December 2010

Welcome to my first edition of the 'Monthly Favourites'! I am excited to start this series of monthly favourites as I would be able to share with you my favourite every month items. I will be featuring new items that I have bought and items that I have been using  lot, also any items that I have rediscovered in my huge make up stash and fell back in love with.

What can I say about this product? It made Studio Fix Fluid Foundation glide easily on my skin with no dry patches!

5. Glamour Magazine  

I love this magazine it combines Style, Beauty, Accesorise, Celebrity news, Life, Love, Diet and everything in one little magazine! Yay :)

6. 136 Brush

This brush used to always sit in my dresser unused. This month I discovered that It's actually a very multi-purpose brush!. I have used it to powder my face, apply bronzer and apply blush with it! It's a great brush to use if you want a light touch of a pigmented blush or bronzer.

Collective Haul Part 1 - Soap & Glory

Hiya lovelies, How are you all doing today? I hope that you've had a very lovely Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year!

I'll be posting a Collective Haul post in several parts. This first part will be featuring my Soap & Glory goodies.

I have always wanted to try out the Soap & Glory line ever since I've stumbled upon a post of it on Musings of a Muse. She seemed to love their line especially the 'signature' scent of it. I bought the Rightous Butter a few months ago from Boots and thought it had a nice scent to it but nothing special. 

There's also a Soap & Glory Discussion post dedicated to the line on Specktra.

There was a 3 for 2 offer on their products so I grabbed 3 skin care items: Scrub Your Nose In It, The Fab Pore 15-Minute Facial Peel and The Fab Pore Hoy Cloth Cleanser. I have large pores on my nose and cheeks and I am hoping that these products will help in atleast minimising them! So here's to hoping, LOL.

Thoughts of these products will be coming up as soon as i try them.

MAC Stylishly Yours Wishlist

Swatches and reviews of the Stylishly Yours collection have started hitting beauty forums and beauty websites. I have Looked at Temptalia's website and I fell in love with the intensity and brightness of the collection as opposed to the neutral and shimmery Cham Pale collection.

MAC and Marcel Wanders Luxe Couture Collection - My Wishlist

Marcel Wanders and MAC are teaming up for this years' MAC Couture collection. Marcel Wanders is a Dutch Industrial Designer. MAC's couture collection is released annualy and follows the holliday collection. It has its own packaging which is designed based on the theme of the couture collection.

I don't usually purchase anything from MAC Couture collection. The only Couture collection I bought from was the one called Monogram and it was released in 2008. The prices of this collection are more expensive than regular MAC products.

After seeing swatches and reading reviews, I have decided that the only thing that I would purchase is the Gesina lipstick. I don't have a red with a pinkish undertone lipstick in my collection. Besides i do prefer this year's packaging compared to the other Couture collections release before.

MAC Cham Pale and Stylishly Yours Swatches

Have you seen the swatches of Cham Pale and Stylishly Yours collections yet? These collections will both launch on the same day. For US and Canada it will launch on the 26th of December. However for us International MAC lovers it will be released on the 6th of January.

I absolutely love both collections.Cham Pale is a very muted collection, featuring lots of golds, neutrals and shimmers. Stylishly Yours is completely the opposite! It features bold and bright colours. So there will be

Face of the Day: Neutral Eyes with Bright Pink Lips

Hello!

I wanted to share with you my very first Face Of The Day (FOTD) post. These will be more of a pictureless FOTD's as in I won't be showing you pictures of myself, only pictures and swatches of products that I have used.

I wanted to wear a bright pink lipstick so i have put this look together. I had neutral eyes on to keep the emphasis of the look on the bright pink lips. All items i have used are MAC unless stated otherwise.

NOTW: MAC Dim The Lights Nail Lacquer

Welcome to my first ever Nail of the Week (NOTW) post :)

I have applied the nail lacquer last night before heading out and I truly love it! It is my favourite MAC Nail Lacquer. I love the texture and the finish. Besides I have been looking for that perfect choclatey-brown nail polish and I was so thrilled when MAC came out with this colour.

Dim the Lights Nail Lacquer came out with MAC's Warm and Cozy collection earlier this year. It is a nice rich chocolatey brown colour with a cream finish.

My Browns/Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette

Hello Lovelies,

I am a huge neutral eyeshadow kinda girl. I love my browns, golds and bronzes and the best thing about that is that these colours compliment my dark brown eyes and makes them pop :)

I introduce to you, my favourite MAC palette that I have:

The picture below is taken with No Flash, it shows the eyeshadow colours true to life but not the finish. Pictures are click-able!

Top, Left to Right: Romp, Motif, All That Glitters, Mulch and Corduroy

Middle: Woodwinked, Cork, Ricepaper, Mythology and Embark

I truly love this palette, as i can mix any eyeshadows for a quick look and be out of the door.

My favourite combination is All That glitters on the lid, Cork in the crease and Ricepaper as my highlight.

Antiqued, Mythology, Bronze and Amber Lights are amongst my favourite eyeshadows.

I use Saddle as a transition shade between my crease and highlight eyeshadow, it helps make the look more put together.

Operation Blush Out, Number 16

Today, day 16 i wore 2 Blushes, I first applied NARS Taos (which by the way is gorgeous) and dusted MAC'S Fad-Dabulous Minerlize Blush on top. The combination is really divine. Fad-abulous adds a nice sheen to the whole look without making it look over the top.

I made Studio Fix Fluid work for me!

I have finally figured out how to use MAC's Studio Fix Fluid (SFF) Foundation! I got this foundation earlier this year in the shade of NC42 because i wanted to try out a liquid foundation, plus my sister uses it and it looks great on her. However, whenever i applied it i have always failed to get that flawless finish.

Before i bought it, I watched a few reviews of it on YouTube, everyone raves about it! I tried wearing it with the 187 brush but it never worked! The brush is too 'soft' for my liking and doesn't give me the 'air brushed' finish everyone is talking about,

So then I switched to the 109 brush, i thought maybe a flat brush would make it blend it better on my skin tone. The 109 worked but my foundation still looked way too cakey and patchy!

Today I thought I would give it another try and I got the idea of misting my face with MAC's Fix+ spray and apply the foundation straight over my face while it is damp. And holly molly, it worked! My foundation blended in without any patched and did not look cakey. It actually looked really good and covered a lot of my acne scars and post-laser burns!

The foundation didn't feel dry or like a mask on my face. Normally I would just want to take it off as soon as possible but this time round, it stayed on my face and it didn't feel like I had a foundation on!

Fix+ + SFF + 109 = A match made in heaven!

Yay for fix+! Thanks you for saving my life.

Operation Blush Out!

I got inspired to join beautyjunkie after reading her post on 'Operation Blush Out'. She was shocked at the amount of blushes that she owns and thought she would start wearing a different blush every time she wears make up.   

My blushes and how i store them

I jumped on the operation blush out bandwagon because i am appalled at the amount of blushes i own, (70!!). I made a list of all the blushes that I own and have started logging which blush i wore whenever i wore make up. I also came up with the rule of not wearing a blush twice until i have worn all 70 of them once! Of course i broke that rule twice. I started my Operation blush on the 3rd of November 2010 (before i started this blog) and so far i have worn 12 blushes to date. I don't wear make up on a daily basis so I'm not using as much as i thought i would be but at least I'm not sticking to same blushes that i used to wear before starting on the Operation Blush Out.

By jumping on the Operation Blush Bandwagon i feel that I am not neglecting my stash anymore and that I am using my blushes. Sure not all of them but I am determined to get there! And I am not buying anymore blushes (i hope i stick by this).
